Event Schedule and Course Description

2:00 – 3:00Registration and technical vehicle inspection – As soon as you arrive at OnTrack101, you will fill out your registration form, and turn in your tech form. You will be accompanied by a tech official who will inspect your vehicle, and walk through pre session preparation items hands on, such as: Setting tire pressure, torqueing wheel nuts, checking fluid, and inspection of safety items.

3:00 – 3:45Tech 101 and Class I – Class will begin promptly at 3:00 and will include a discussion of how driving on track will affect your vehicle. This class will teach you how to prepare your car for that environment, and what to expect from upgraded components meant for track driving, such as brakes, tires, and fluids. Class I will also include the introduction of vehicle control, and an explanation of the lead and follow procedures

4:00 – 4:15 Lead and Follow Session I – During this on track session, you will follow a lead car around the track at moderate speeds. The proper racing line will be introduced, as well as, braking zones, corner identification, and pit lane entrance and exits.

 

4:20 – 4:35Class II – This class will include more vehicle dynamics. Proper braking, cornering and accelerating techniques will be discussed in more detail. Proper downshifting technique will be described. Flags and safety procedures will be introduced

4:45 – 5:00Lead and Follow Session II – During this on track session you will again follow a lead car around the track. The pace will be slightly faster, and proper braking zone management will be introduced. Flag stations will be introduced. More attention on the driving line and cornering technique will be focused on during this session.

5:00 – 5:20Class III – Your final classroom session will be an in depth discussion of individual corners and the proper technique for a quality lap. During this class all rules for the open sessions will be discussed. Track rules, passing rules, safety, and emergency procedures will all be discussed at length. At the end of this class we will divide the class into 2 groups (Group A and Group B) Group A will be those that wish to drive at a moderate pace and concentrate on technique. Group B will consist of those that wish to drive at a more spirited and faster pace.

5:20 – 5:40Open Session I (Group A) – Open session, passing in designated zones. No lead car

5:40 – 6:00Open Session I (Group B) – Open session, passing in designated zones. No lead car

6:00 – 6:20Open Session II (Group A) – Open session, passing in designated zones. No lead car

6:20 – 6:40Open Session II (Group B) – Open session, passing in designated zones. No lead car
